Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner has written to the Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson MP, about the murder of Italian Cambridge University PhD student, Giulio Regeni, in Cairo last year. He called for an update from the Foreign Office about progress that has been made on the investigation.

Cambridge student, Giulio Regeni, was killed in Egypt while doing fieldwork into trade unions. In December, Daniel joined Amnesty International activists from the ‘Truth for Giulio’ campaign outside the Guildhall to maintain pressure on the British and Egyptian governments.

Daniel Zeichner MP wrote: One year on and we seem no closer to uncovering the truth about what happened, and no closer to securing much-needed answers and justice for Mr Regeni, his family and loved ones. I hope the Foreign Secretary can provide some real reassurance that he is doing everything he can to reveal the truth about this sickening crime.”
