At Prime Minister’s Questions today, Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner challenged the Prime Minister on the Government’s failed green homes grant scheme. Just 81 vouchers were issued in Cambridge under the scheme to help people install energy efficient measures, such as insulation and heat pumps, in their homes.

As energy prices soar, Mr Zeichner told the Prime Minister that “the Government’s flagship Green Homes Grant scheme collapsed in a £1.5bn shambles at the end of last year, with just 81 vouchers issued in Cambridge and just 85 in the Prime Minister’s constituency.”

He continued, “With energy bills about to go through the roof, what is it about this Government that makes it so peculiarly unable to run a basic loft-lagging scheme?”
